American SpiralWeld Pipe Co. LLC has awarded SMS group an order to supply a spiral pipe production line at its new plant in Paris, Texas. The equipment includes a coil preparation stand and a spiral pipe machine with SAW.

The line is scheduled to start producing in 2020. It will process material grades up to X-70 to produce water pipes to AWWA standards up to 55 ft. long and 24 to 144 in. OD. The maximum wall thickness will be 1 in.

The mill will operate in the one-step (online) process, with SAW from the inside and outside taking place directly after spiral pipe forming.
