The separation between government and church (white christian churches only) has now been wiped out. This day SCOTUS christian right judges forced their biblical views on all women in the US by overturning Roe vs Wade. A law for the last fifty years, most of my lifetime, that allowed women to take personal control over their bodies through making the difficult decision whether to terminate or proceed with a pregnancy. We are right back to when I was a teenager and had so few rights as a female. While some states are still maintaining abortion rights, the next step is to ban abortion nationally if the GOP takeover. The message is clear - biblical law states women are subservient to man. A mainstay of the patriarchal and authoritarian power structure. Yesterday they overturned a concealed weapon law established in New York. A law that will have cascading affects down the line to other states. The 2nd amendment, so badly interpreted, has proclaimed owning ANY firearm is more important than the lives of the people in this country. The slaughter of children and every other innocent is justified by those few who feel their rights to own a gun supersedes other’s rights as defined in the Declaration of Independence: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness". The minority no longer acknowledge the rights of others. The minority who are angry and fearful of losing their power decided the best way to handle their demographic decline is to suppress the majority through control of the courts and laws. Their hypocrisy is so blatant and as they continue down this path it could be the death knell for our country. A country founded on ‘for the people, by the people’ did not mean a dictatorship by the minority over the majority but that is the direction we are headed. I no longer trust there is a future for our grandchildren here where the boys will be taught their whiteness and gender elevate them above others and the girls will be told they are less and must obey the male in their lives. If you are not the right skin color, heterosexual, gender or religion then you are the enemy in their eyes. This has been true for many today and in our history, yet we march forward trying to correct the sins of the past, now our future looks dark.

I question whether there is any place for me here in this country. If the country continues in this direction, my words written here could make me an enemy of the state.

I know there are some will say I am being over reactive, but to them I say, you will be next on the list. Because an authoritarian government needs to have 'TOTAL CONTROL' over the people in order to function and fear of punishment is their strongest weapon.  Stop saying it will not happen here, it is already happening.  The minority success today will give them incentive to continue until all but the powerful and elite will have any rights.  Slitting their own throats to own the rest of us.

***  After writing the above text, news broke about Justice Thomas opinion on Dodds: "In future cases, we should reconsider all of this Court’s substantive due process precedents, including Griswold, Lawrence, and Obergefell," Thomas wrote. "Because any substantive due process decision is 'demonstrably erroneous' ... we have a duty to 'correct the error' established in those precedents ... After overruling these demonstrably erroneous decisions, the question would remain whether other constitutional provisions guarantee the myriad rights that our substantive due process cases have generated."

This statement by Thomas says I am right to question whether there is a place any longer in this country for me.
